Armored Rager

Proficiencies

All armor, shields, simple weapons, and martial weapons. You do not gain the Unarmored Defense feature. If you decide to multiclass into armored rager, you instead gain proficiency in light armor, medium armor, shields, simple weapons, and martial weapons.

Equipment

Instead of (a) two handaxes or (b) any simple weapon, you may start with (c) chainmail.

Armored Movement

Starting at 5th level, your speed increases by 5 feet. You do not gain the Fast Movement feature.

Iron Resolve

By 7th level, your skill while wearing heavy armor is so honed you increase your Armor Class by 2 as if wielding a shield. You do not gain the Feral Instinct feature.

Additionally, when you’re wearing heavy armor and a creature scores a critical hit against you with a weapon attack, you can damage your armor and make it a normal hit instead. While your armor is damaged, your Armor Class is reduced as follows:

Armor New Armor Class
Ring Mail 12 + Dex modifier (max 2)
Chain Mail 13 + Dex modifier (max 2)
Splint 13 + Dex modifier (max 2)
Plate 14 + Dex modifier (max 2)

Damaging your armor again breaks it. You can repair your armor as part of a short or long rest, removing the damaged condition. A mending cantrip can also remove the damaged condition from your armor.
