Way of Transcendence

Monks of the Way of Transcendence view the physical form as mere coincidence, a vessel their soul inhabited purely by change and that is theirs to adjust and critique as much as they see fit. They learn to channel their ki, the manifestation of their life energy, to assume whatever form they can imagine.

Disciple of the Heart’s True Form

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to reshape your physical body to your liking.

As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast alter self, except you gain the benefits of both the change appearance option and either the aquatic adaptation option or the natural weapons option (your choice). If you choose the natural weapons option, the damage dealt by your unarmed strikes changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table. This spell lasts for 1 hour and doesn’t require concentration.

Expanded Form

At 6th level, you gain the ability to dramatically alter your size. You can cast alter self using 1 or 2 ki points. If you spend 2 ki points, you can enlarge or reduce your size, as described by enlarge/reduce, in addition to alter self’s usual effects. Unlike enlarge/reduce, if you reduce your size, you gain advantage on Dexterity checks and Dexterity saving throws for the spell’s duration instead of disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws and don’t reduce the damage your attacks deal. This allows you to appear as a creature up to one size category larger or smaller using the change appearance option of alter self.

Polymorphic Mind

At 11th level, you can transform yourself into virtually anything.

You can cast alter self using 1, 2, or 5 ki points. If you spend 5 ki points, you can appear as any beast or humanoid with a challenge rating equal to or less than your level, even a creature of a different size and body shape. For example, you can assume the form of a Tiny cat even if you’re ordinarily a Medium human. You replace your type, tags, speed, Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, vulnerabilities, resistances, immunities, senses, special traits, and attacks with those of the chosen beast or humanoid; your Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution are replaced only if the chosen beast or humanoid’s are higher than yours. All other game statistics are unchanged. If this grants you a natural weapon, the damage dealt by your unarmed strikes changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table.

Polymorphic Palm

At 17th level, the flesh of others is soft, malleable clay in your hands. When you spend 5 ki points to cast alter self, you can appear as any aberration, beast, celestial, dragon, elemental, fey, fiend, giant, humanoid, monstrosity, ooze, or plant.

When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 3 ki points and a bonus action to fundamentally change their physical form. When you do, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw. If it fails, you transform the target into any any aberration, beast, celestial, dragon, elemental, fey, fiend, giant, humanoid, monstrosity, ooze, or plant, otherwise acting as polymorph.
