Mountebank

Some might call the mountebank a faker or cheat, but the mountebank’s talents go far beyond that. Deception and improvisation can only do so much. A master mountebank imitates and steals the skills of others, relying on creativity and audacity to replace experience and caution. A true mountebank of the craft is a rare individual, but they can almost inevitably be found among lay preachers, half-rate alchemists, and traveling wonder-workers of all sorts.

Cantrips

At 3rd level, you learn two cantrips, which can be selected from the bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell lists. Your spellcasting ability for these cantrips is Charisma. You learn an additional cantrip at 9th, 13th, and 17th level.

Jack of all Trades

Starting at 3rd level, you can add half your proficiency bonus, rounded down, to any ability check you make that doesn’t already include your proficiency bonus.

Honeyed Words

Starting at 9th level, a non-hostile NPC is charmed as long as you are interacting with them. This has no benefit in combat situations.

Use Magic Device

By 13th level, you have learned enough about the workings of magic that you can improvise the use of items even when they are not intended for you. You ignore all class, race, and level requirements on the use of magic items.

Flawless Mimicry

By spending fifteen minutes rehearsing, you can gain one of the following benefits:

  • Proficiency with one weapon.
  • Proficiency with the armor you are wearing.
  • The ability to cast one 1st level spell, chosen from the cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard list, one time, without using a spell slot.
  • Proficiency with one skill.
  • Proficiency with one non-secret language.
  • Advantage on all Charisma ability checks relating to impersonating a specific individual (Deception, Perform, using a disguise kit, and so forth).

The benefit lasts for one hour. You must finish a long rest before using this feature again.
