Outcast

For whatever reason, you are no longer welcome in your home city. You have spent much of your life either traveling or living among another race. Life has not been easy, but you have survived and learned from your struggles.

Reason for Exile

Why were you exiled? Was it self-imposed or due to some crime against your brothers? Has that situation changed and now allowed you to return to your homeland? Work with your DM to determine answers to these questions and form a detailed background, or select or roll on the table below.

d8 Reason for Exile
1 I wanted more from life than I could find in the city. 2 I strongly disagreed with how the leaders of my race were handling and issue.
3 I was falsely accused and exiled for a crime against my people.
4 I was forced out of town by a competitor.
5 I made a serious mistake and fled the city embarrassed and disgraced.
6 I left the city because I wanted solitude to work on my projects.
7 One of my ancestors led a rebellion against the city and forced our entire family to be cast out. 8 I am not happy in any city because I prefer the rain in my face and the wind on my skin.

Feature: No Place Like Home

Despite being exiled from your home city, you still feel a connection to it. No matter where you are, you can sense the direction and distance to your homeland. This means that with a map, you are essentially never lost. Additionally, your time in the wilderness has allowed you to find enough food and fresh water to keep you and up to five companions alive, assuming there is food and water available.

Suggested Characteristics

Exiled either by choice or by force, Outcasts do not usually relate well to others. Most outcasts are not familiar with their family and have spent minimal time working with strangers. The bonds they form with their adventuring companions are the closest to true friendship that many will ever see.
