College of Salius

Salius (“jumper”) are priests of Ares who are formed from the aristocracy. They are in charge of carrying Ares’ twelve shields around a city in a religious ceremony. The twelve shields are suspended from poles, and the Salii carry the shields between them, striking them with rods as they sing and dance.

Bonus Proficiency

When you join the College of Salius at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.

Salius Master

Also at 3rd level, you master a variety of acrobatic techniques that allow you to evade danger. As a bonus action, you can tumble. When you tumble, you gain the following benefits for the rest of your turn:

  • You gain the benefits of taking the Dash and Disengage actions.
  • You gain a climbing speed equal to your current speed.
  • You take half damage from falling.

Warding Maneuver

At 6th level, you learn to fend off strikes directed at you, your mount, or other creatures nearby. If you or a creature you can see within 5 feet of you is hit by an attack, you can roll 1d8 as a reaction if you’re wielding a shield. Roll the die, and add the number rolled to the target’s AC against that attack. If the attack still hits, the target has resistance against the attack‘s damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Battle Magic

At 14th level, you have mastered the art of weaving spellcasting and weapon use into a single harmonious act.

When you use your action to cast a bard spell, you can make one weapon attack as a bonus action.
