Curse Weaver (Fighter Martial Archetype)

The archetypal Curse Weaver combines their martial prowess with ancient curses. Curse bearers use an older form of magic found more with warlocks to supplement their swordplay.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you augment your martial prowess with the ability to cast spells.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the warlock spell list. You learn an additional warlock cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Curse Weaver Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your warlock spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’ s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell Hex and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast Hex using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level warlock spells of your choice.

The Spells Known column of the Curse Weaver Spellcasting table shows when you learn more warlock spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the warlock spells you know with another spell of your choice from the warlock spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability

Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your warlock spells, since you learn your spells through study and memorization. You use your Intelligence whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Intelligence modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a warlock spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Hexing Strike

At 3rd level, as a bonus action you can infuse your weapon with a minor curse. The curse remains within the weapon until you hit a target and the curse discharges or 1 minute passes.

Once you strike an enemy and choose to discharge the curse, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier). On a failure, they are affected by the spell Lesser Curse for 1 minute. This ability can be used 3 times per short rest.

Hexing Combat

Beginning at 7th level, when you use your action to cast a cantrip, you can make one weapon attack as a bonus action.

Cursed Strike

At 10th level, the curse lain by your hexing strike is improved to Bestow Curse.

Crushing Resistance

Starting at 15th level, when you deal damage to a creature with a weapon attack, the target has disadvantage on saving throws against spells that cause curses or hexes or the hexing/cursing strike ability until the end of your next turn.

Cursed Combat

Starting at 18th level, when you use your action to cast a spell, you can make one weapon attack as a bonus action.
