Oath of Illumination

Paladins taking the Oath of Illumination promise to ferret out and eliminate secret sects intent on evil acts. Those known as light-bringers take a straightforward approach of the frontal assault, while the shadowstalkers use a subtle approach involving infiltration and finesse to remove the most insidious of organizations. No matter their methods, these righteous paladins have pledged to rid the world of evil one threat at a time until the darkness is vanquished and the light prevails.

Tenets of Illumination

The Oath of Illumination asks its paladins to enter into the darkness and embrace it so that they may discover covert agendas and thwart evil plots.

Seek. Find evil. Reveal. Expose evilAbolish. Destroy evil.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Brilliant Attack

As an action, you hold your weapon aloft and use your Channel Divinity to draw blinding light into it. For 1 minute, when you deal damage to an evil creature with a melee or ranged weapon, you can use your reaction to force it to make your choice of either a Constitution or a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is blinded for 1 round.

Pierce the Darkness

You can use your Channel Divinity to enhance your visual acuity. As an action, you pass your holy symbol over your eyes. You gain darkvision within 30 feet for a number of hours equal to your Charisma modifier. If you already have darkvision, the range of your darkvision increases by 30 feet.

Aura of Sight

Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you can’t be blinded while you are conscious.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Into the Den

Beginning at 15th level, you gain a +5 status bonus on Perception and Stealth skill checks, and when you are under the influence of your pierce the darkness Channel Divinity ability, you can see in magical darkness as well as normal darkness.

Precise Vanquisher

At 20th level, you can overcome evil against all odds. Using an action, you cause yourself to glow as though a daylight spell was cast upon you, clearly denoting you as a being of the light. You gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • You gain immunity to necrotic damage.
  • You have advantage on attacks against evil creatures.
  • All enemies within 10 feet of you are outlined in a white light (making their position obvious), regardless of whether you are aware of their presence or not.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
