Path of the Bear Warrior

To walk the Path of the Bear Warrior is to seek a source of strength, stamina, and courage beyond the borders of the civilized world. Those who have taken up the Berserkr, the bear shirt, are sacred to Aurvímnir, the High Father. Such men and women are the hardest of fighters, capable of feats of vigor beyond those of normal folk. Called the berserkr (plural berserkir), these ursine warrior shamans are always ready to change headlong into combat. Bear Warriors are highly respected for their courage and stamina while the battle rages, though in its aftermath, few would deny that there is something uncanny about those who willingly chose to go berserk.

Bear Shirt

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you must make or acquire a shirt of bear hide.

Though nonmagical, you must be wearing the shirt in order to utilize your class features. If you lose your bear shirt, you must acquire another or craft one from animal hide (an activity that takes 1 hour). This crafting can be performed during a short or long rest.

Additionally, when raging, provided you are wearing your bear shirt, you can make a bonus attack to bite your opponent with your powerful jaws, which you use to make an unarmed strike. If it hits, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier.

Shape Strong

Beginning at 6th level, provided you wear your bear shirt, you count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against the poisoned condition and resistance to poison damage.

Consult The Spirits

At 10th level, you can cast the commune spell without need of a material component provided you wear your bear shirt, but only as a ritual. When you do so, the spirit of the bear manifests to give you the information you seek. On rare occasions (and at the GM’s discretion), this bear spirit might be replaced with an einherjar, one of the honored dead, by a valkyrja, or even by Aurvímnir the High Father himself. After you cast commune in this way, you can’t use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.

Bear Attack

Beginning at 14th level, while you’re raging and provided you wear your bear shirt, if you move at least 20 feet in a straight line toward a Large or smaller target right before making a melee weapon attack against it, you can use a bonus action to make an additional melee weapon attack against it.
