Tonal Warlock

Tonal blurs the line between witch and werewolf, combining the best and worst aspects of both. Tonal are wolf witches, and they specialize in furthering the goals of their fiendish masters. They used wolves as their weapons—they know how to ride with wolves, command them, and become one.

Expanded Spell List

Tonal lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell Level Spells
1st animal friendship (canines only), speak with animals (canines only)
2nd Find steed (fiendish mastiff only), moonbeam
3rd bestow curse, spirit guardians (necrotic canines)
4th dominate beast (canines only), faithful hound
5th awaken (canines only), reincarnate (werewolf only)

Wolf Rider

Starting at 1st level, you can turn any Medium or Large friendly canine into a mount usable by you regardless of your size. You have advantage on saving throws made to avoid falling off your canine mount. If you fall off your canine mount and descend no more than 10 feet, you can land on your feet if you’re not incapacitated. Finally, mounting or dismounting a canine mount costs you only 5 feet of movement, rather than half your speed.

Hell Wolf

At 6th level, you gain the ability to call forth a hell wolf harass your foes. As a bonus action, you can spend a spell slot to summon a hell wolf to target one creature you can see within 120 feet of you. See Chapter 5 for the hell wolf’s statistics, with the following changes:

  • It appears with a number of temporary hit points equal to half your warlock level.
  • It can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. The hell wolf takes 5 force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.
  • At the start of its turn, the hell wolf automatically knows its target’s location. If the target was hidden, it is no longer hidden from the hell wolf.

The hell wolf appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of the target. Roll initiative for the hell wolf. On its turn, it can move only toward its target by the most direct route, and it can use its action only to attack its target. The hell wolf can make opportunity attacks, but only against its target. Additionally, while the hell wolf is within 5 feet of the target, the target has disadvantage on saving throws against any spell you cast. The hell wolf disappears if it is reduced to 0 hit points, if its target is reduced to 0 hit points, or after 5 minutes.

Aura of Hate

Starting at 10th level you, as well any fiends and undead within 10 feet of you, gain a bonus to melee weapon damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1). A creature can benefit from this feature from only one warlock at a time.

Hounds of Hell

Starting at 14th level, you call infernal hounds to protect you when you are the most defenseless. If you are reduced to 0 hit points or are incapacitated against your will, you can immediately gain the benefits of summon beasts as if it were cast with a 9th-level spell slot. It summons four infernal hounds who have the same statistics as wolves, but the wolves have the fiend instead of beast type. The conjured infernal hounds appear within 20 feet of you. If they receive no commands from you, they protect you from harm and attack your foes. The spell lasts for 1 hour, requiring no concentration, or until you dismiss it (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
