SPECIAL TRAITS

  • Bonding. The adar rhiannon can magically bond with one creature it can see, immediately after spending at least 1 hour observing that creature while within 30 feet of it. The bond lasts until the adar rhiannon bonds with a different creature or until the bonded creature dies. While bonded, the adar rhiannon and the bonded creature can communicate telepathically with each other at a distance of up to 100 feet.
  • Distance Distortion. Attack rolls against the adar rhiannon have disadvantage unless it is incapacitated or its speed is 0.
  • Innate Spellcasting. The adar rhiannon’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 14). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
  • Magic Resistance. The adar rhiannon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

ACTIONS

  • Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d4 + 4) piercing damage.
  • Ethereal Song. The adar rhiannon’s magical song can affect time and space. Any creature within 60 feet of the adar rhiannon that can hear it must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be affected as described below. Other adar rhiannon and creatures that can’t be charmed are unaffected. An affected creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the adar rhiannon’s for the next 24 hours.
  • Enchanting Melody. The creature is charmed by the adar rhiannon for 1 minute. The charmed creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0 feet. If the adar rhiannon or any of its companions harms the creature, the effect on it ends immediately.
  • Gentle Lullaby. The creature falls asleep and is unconscious for 1 minute. The effect ends if the creature takes damage or if someone takes an action to shake the creature awake.
  • Timeless Tune. The creature’s perception of time is altered. It is affected by a slow spell for 1 minute.

ABOUT

The adar rhiannon is a small, exquisite bird with shimmering feathers that change colors as it moves. Its eyes emit a soft, hypnotic glow. When it sings, its ethereal song creates a calming effect. It is rarely seen, and its exact habitat is shrouded in mystery. It is said to appear near areas of great significance or magic. It’s primary function is to soothe and enchant, using its song to manipulate time and emotions. It rarely engages in combat and prefers to avoid conflict. The adar rhiannon is linked to the legendary figure Rhiannon, a horse goddess. Its song reflects the enchanting and ethereal nature often attributed to Rhiannon in stories.
