SPECIAL TRAITS

  • Fey Ancestry. The fey has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put it to sleep.
  • Keen Hearing. The coranyeidd has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing.
  • Innate Spellcasting. The coranyeidd’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 14). It can innately cast the following bard spells, requiring no material components:
    • At will: vicious mockery
    • 1/day: dissonant whispers
  • Mimicry. The coranyeidd can mimic simple sounds it has heard, such as a person whispering, a baby crying, or an animal chittering. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful DC 14 Wisdom (Insight) check.

ACTIONS

  • Shriek. Melee or Ranged Spell Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d4 + 4) thunder damage.
  • Cacophony (Recharge 5-6). The coranyeidd emits a cacophony of babbling voices in a 10-foot radius. Each creature of its choice within that area must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or its words are scrambled for one minute. It can’t understand what others say and speaks only in gibberish. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the coranyeidd’s Cacophony for the next 24 hours.

BONUS ACTIONS

  • Invisibility. The coranyeidd can magically turn invisible as a bonus action. It remains invisible until it attacks or until its concentration is broken (as if concentrating on a spell).

ABOUT

This small, ethereal being has a translucent body that shimmers with an otherworldly light. It has delicate features that are captivatingly beautiful. When invisible, coranyeidd are practically impossible to detect, blending seamlessly with their surroundings.

Coranyeidd (KOR-an-YAED) are spirits known for their ability to distort conversations and overhear everything that is said. They are tiny, ethereal beings that inhabit areas where verbal communication is common, such as courts, marketplaces, and taverns. Their presence often leads to confusion and misunderstandings among those they target.

Coranyeidd prefer to avoid direct combat whenever possible, relying on their abilities to create chaos and confusion. They create a cacophony to overwhelm their opponents with a chaotic chorus of voices, causing confusion and disorientation. If cornered or provoked, they resort to ear-splitting shrieks to defend themselves. They prioritize escaping and hiding rather than engaging in prolonged confrontations.

Coranyeidd feed off the energy generated by distorted conversations and the discord they cause. They have no specific habitat but instead travel to places where communication is prevalent. Legends suggest that they have the ability to overhear important information and secrets, making them sought after by those who seek hidden knowledge.
