SPECIAL TRAITS

  • Keen Sight and Smell. The ellen trechend has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight or smell.
  • Pack Tactics. The ellen trechend has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the ellen trechend’s allies is within 5 ft. of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.
  • Multiple Heads. The ellen trechend has three heads. While it has more than one head, the ellen trechend has advantage on saving throws against being blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, stunned, and knocked unconscious. Whenever the ellen trechend takes 20 or more damage in a single turn, one of its heads dies. If all its heads die, the ellen trechend dies.
  • Reactive Heads. For each head the ellen trechend has beyond one, it gets an extra reaction that can be used only for opportunity attacks.
  • Wakeful. While the ellen trechend sleeps, at least one of its heads is awake.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The ellen trechend makes four attacks: three with its beak and one with its talons.
  • Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d4 + 4) piercing damage.
  • Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.
  • Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6). The ellen trechend exhales fire in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

ABOUT

This monstrous beast has three pendulous vulture-like heads atop a winged body the size of a horse. The creature is a terrifying sight, with each of its heads having sharp, hooked beaks and blood-red eyes. Its wingspan is immense, allowing it to soar through the sky with ease.

Ellen trechends are known to inhabit desolate places, such as deep caverns, mist-shrouded mountains, and secluded forests. They are drawn to locations of great magical power or sites associated with ancient legends.

Ellen trechends are relentless predators, hunting both beasts and humanoids to satisfy their insatiable hunger. It uses its keen sight to spot potential prey from great distances, swooping down from the sky to attack with its deadly beaks. The three heads act independently, allowing the creature to make multiple simultaneous attacks.

As a fearsome addition to its arsenal, the ellen trechend can unleash a devastating fire breath weapon, engulfing its adversaries in searing flames. This fire breath can incinerate those caught in its path, leaving little chance of survival.
