SPECIAL TRAITS

  • False Appearance. While the faud shaughran remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an inanimate patch of grass.
  • Misdirection Aura. The faud shaughran emits an aura of misdirection within a 10-foot radius. Any creature that enters the aura for the first time on a turn must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or become disoriented. Disoriented creatures have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks and Intelligence (Investigation) checks until the start of their next turn.
  • Plant Camouflage. The faud shaughran has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks it makes in any terrain with ample obscuring vegetation.

ACTIONS

  • Psychic Confusion. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 0 ft., one creature in the faud shaughran s space. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) psychic damage.

REACTIONS

  • Lure of the Lost. When a creature steps on the faud shaughran, it can use its reaction to cast hallucinatory terrain on the immediate surroundings, creating the illusion that the landscape changes and landmarks shift. The affected creature must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed and believe that it is lost. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

ABOUT

The faud shaughran appears as a diminutive plant-like creature with fine leaves and small, inconspicuous flowers. Its colors subtly shift to match the environment, making it nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding foliage. The plant lies flat on the ground, hugging the earth and waiting patiently for its prey to approach. Its deceptive appearance is enhanced by a faint enchanting aura that cloaks it from prying eyes.

The faud shaughran (FOD-shur-AN) is a devious plant that lies in wait on the ground, blending in perfectly with its surroundings. It grows primarily in wild and untamed areas, often near footpaths or in dense forests, waiting for unsuspecting travelers to step on it. It derives its power from the enchanting herbs and plants that surround it, absorbing their magical essence to enhance its deceptive abilities.

The faud shaughran is a patient hunter, relying on its camouflage and misdirection abilities to trap its prey. It lies motionless, blending into the ground and foliage, waiting for an unwitting creature to step upon it. Once triggered, it releases paralyzing spores that immobilize its victim, leaving them at its mercy. The faud shaughran then uses its Lure of the Lost to create illusions of changing landscapes and landmarks, making the creature believe it is hopelessly lost. Other creatures rely on faud shaughrans and hunt the disoriented prey, and the ensuing blood feeds faud shaughran roots.
