  • Blasphemous Whispers. A gallowdead constantly whispers vile secrets and blasphemous chants while it can see any creature and isn’t incapacitated. Each creature that starts its turn within 20 feet of the gallowdead and can hear it must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature can’t take reactions until the start of its next turn and rolls a d8 to determine what it does during its turn. On a 1 to 4, the creature does nothing. On a 5 or 6, the creature takes no action or bonus action and uses all its movement to move in a randomly determined direction. On a 7 or 8, the creature makes a melee attack against a randomly determined creature within its reach or does nothing if it can’t make such an attack.
  • Magic Resistance. The gallowdead has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

  • Multiattack. The gallowdead makes three chains of the dead attacks.
  • Chains of the Dead (Recharge 6). Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage, plus 18 (4d8) necrotic damage and the target must succeed on a DC 19 Constitution saving throw or be knocked unconscious for 1 minute. The unconscious target repeats the saving throw if it takes damage and at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
  • Destructive Wave (1/Day). The gallowdead’s whispers coalesce into a physical attack. All non-undead creatures within 30 feet of the gallowdead must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. The attack spreads around corners. A creature takes 35 (10d6) thunder damage and 35 (10d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

  • Parry. The gallowdead adds 6 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the gallowdead must see the attacker and be wielding a melee weapon.
