ABOUT

This cow has a distinctive shaggy coat, which provides excellent protection against the harsh Highland weather.

Highland cows, often called “coos” in the regions where they are found, are a hardy and adaptable breed of cattle native to the highlands. Highland cows thrive in rugged and hilly terrains, including moorlands, glens, and the heather-covered highlands.

Highland cows are herbivores, primarily grazing on grasses and other vegetation. They are more concerned with foraging for food and maintaining their social structure within the herd.
