Special Traits

  • Pass For Normal: Detecting that a Mascot is undead and not a person in a costume requires a DC 12 Insight, Religion, or Perception test. This is made with Disadvantage if the viewer is more than 30 feet away. This is how they get close.
  • Curse of the Unliving: If nonmagical damage reduces the Mascot to zero hit points, it must make a Constitution Save with a DC of 5 + The Damage Taken. If it succeeds, it is reduced to 1 HP instead. If it has inflicted the Swollen Sickness on another target in the last 24 hours, it has disadvantage on this saving throw.
  • Swollen Sickness: If a creature ends their turn and are grabbed by the Mascot, they must make a DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw or contract Swollen Sickness. (See Below)

While afflicted, their limbs start to deform, fingers become stubby, heads grow large, and they have an urge to be near to others. If the target is reduced to zero hit points, they immediately start with one failed Death Saving Throw. If the target dies while afflicted with Swollen Sickness, they rise from the dead as a Mascot 48 hours later. A Remove Curse or Greater Restoration Spell can immediately remove Swollen Sickness from a target. Lesser Restoration can remove it as well, as long as it is cast within 8 hours of affliction. If it has been longer than that, then the caster must also
