ABOUT

Sailors swear that some seals can turn into humans. This is close to the truth, selkies are actually fey creatures that can shapechange into seals.

Rocky Romance. Selkies have been known to fall in love with humans who find their seal skin. If someone possesses their skin, the selkie’s magic doesn’t work on them. The fey aren’t the best judge of character and find it hard to escape unhealthy relationships.

Children born from marriages with selkies have webbed toes and fingers.

Seven Year Hitch. Every seven years there is a chance a selkie can’t return to its humanoid form and remains in seal form. These shapechangers are usually shunned by other fey creatures and forgotten about.
