SPECIAL TRAITS

  • Animating Core. Inside a treasure golem is a glowing magical core, crystalline in form and about 1 foot in diameter. If this core is destroyed the animation of the treasure golem ceases to function, effectively destroying it regardless of its remaining hit points. Because this core is at the center of the treasure golem, it can normally only be attacked by creatures who have been swallowed whole (instead of attempting to free themselves). The core has AC 14, 25 hp and is immune to poison, psychic or piercing, and slashing from nonmagical attacks not made with adamantine weapons.
  • Immutable Form. The golem is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.
  • Magic Resistance. The golem has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
  • Magic Weapons. The golem’s weapon attacks are magical.
  • Treasure Sense. The golem can sense bits of gold, silver, or copper within 50 ft. (this is blocked by an inch-thick sheet of lead or 1 foot or more of stone). Any creature carrying 500 gp or more of wealth wakes a dormant treasure golem as soon as they are within 10 feet of it.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The treasure golem makes two attacks with its slam.
  • Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (3d10 + 3) bludgeoning damage and the target is grappled (escape DC 15). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained and has disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws, and the golem can’t use the same attack on another target.
  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) bludgeoning damage.
  • Swallow. The golem makes one bite attack against a Medium or smaller target it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target is also swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the golem. The golem can have only one creature swallowed at a time. If the golem takes 20 damage or more on a single turn from the swallowed creature, the golem must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 feet of the golem. If the golem dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the remains by using 15 feet of movement, exiting prone.

ABOUT

These glittering constructs are constructed from a mass of coins and jewels compressed onto a solid, glowing crystalline core that houses its animating spirit. Though they are constructs, they have a curious hunger for precious metals, awakening to activity when sources of such metals are nearby and seeking to absorb them into their bodies, slaying any who keep the metals from them.
