Special Traits

  • Shapechanger. The werebear can use its action to polymorph into a Large bear-humanoid hybrid, or into a Large bear, or back into its true form, which is humanoid. Its statistics, other than its size and armor class, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn’t transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
  • Defender. While the werebear is wielding a shield, allies within 5 feet of the werebear, that aren’t wielding a shield, gain a +2 bonus to their armor class.
  • Keen Smell. The werebear has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
  • Mighty Grip (Hybrid Form Only). The werebear can ignore the Two-Handed trait of weapons made for Medium creatures.
  • Sentinel. If the werebear hits a creature with an opportunity attack, that creature’s speed is reduced to 0 for the rest of its turn.

Actions

  • Multiattack. The werebear makes two attacks with its claws, or two with its halberd.
  • Bite (Hybrid or Bear Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) piercing damage. If the target is a humanoid, it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, or be cursed with werebear lycanthropy.
  • Claws (Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) slashing damage.
  • Halberd (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d10 + 5) slashing damage.
