Axe of Unmaking

Weapon (Axe), very rare

The axe of unmaking is a large bearded-axe covered in runes of all forms.

A rune of un-creation carved into the axe’s head impregnates it with the ability to change the composition of metals and wood.

When the wielder strikes an opponent wearing non-magical armor or carrying a non-magical shield, the wielder can attempt to weaken (or destroy) the armor or shield.

The opponent must attempt a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the opponent rolls 1d4 and applies the result as a reduction to the AC bonus of the shield or armor. For example, if the opponent rolls a 2, the armor or shield’s AC bonus is reduced by 2. As a shield’s AC bonus is never more than +1, any roll will destroy the shield. A shield reduced to a 0 bonus or armor reduced to a 10 AC disintegrates.
