Bag of Thunder Caltrops

Weapon (caltrops), rare (requires attunement by a fighter or rogue)

This is a well-made storm-gray leather bag that holds a dozen +1 caltrops coated with roiling black and gray clouds reflected on their metal surface.

Radiates: Conjuration and evocation magic.

Power: You may reach into this alchemist’s bag as an action and scatter a dozen +1 caltrops in a 10 x 10 foot area. The caltrops do 2 points of piercing damage and 1d4 points of thunder damage (2d4 inside or underground); they also inflict the deafened condition for 1 minute on any creature they damage unless it succeeds at a Dexterity save with a DC equal to 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus.

Unlike the other magical bag of caltrops, you may spread these out and leave them. 1 minute after the first creature steps into the area and sets them off, the caltrops vanish and reform inside the bag; otherwise, they remain where you left them until triggered or you command them to return to the bag as a bonus action. You may use this power once per short or long rest.

Special: If you are a rogue, you may use this power as a bonus action instead of the Dash, Disengage, or Hide actions granted by Cunning Action.
