When held aloft in one hand, the wielder gains a +1 bonus on Dexterity checks to determine initiative. When you grant yourself or an ally the ability to roll an extra die and add it to an attack roll—such as with Bardic Inspiration, superiority dice, or a bless spell—add a +1 bonus to the result of that die.

In addition, the banner of strategy helps ward off mental influences that would distract your attention from battle.

If you fail a saving throw and that would cause you to become charmed or frightened, as a reaction you can delay the start of that effect until the end of your next turn.

Thereafter, if you spend an action during that turn, you can delay the effect one additional round, and you can continue delaying the onset of the effect as long as you spend your action each round, unless you fail a saving throw against another effect that also would cause you to become charmed or frightened; you cannot delay a second effect.
