Burglar’s hook (Set)

Wondrous item, unique (requires attunement by a fighter or rogue)

This grappling hook is covered in mystic symbols.

Radiates: Abjuration, conjuration, transmutation.

Power: While secured to this hook, a rope becomes magically reinforced so it can safely handle up to twice its normal weight allowance.

Power: You gain a +4 bonus to secure or retrieve this grappling hook to or from any object (not creature). You apply either your Strength or Dexterity modifier to the roll (whichever is higher). Once you secure this hook to an object, it cannot be dislodged by any creature with less than 18 Strength, nor can any rope you secure to the hook be damaged or dislodged (except by a creature with 18 or greater Strength). You may also use this power to treat this item as a boarding hook in ship-to-ship combat.

Power: While climbing a rope secured to this hook, you gain advantage on all checks and saves pertaining to hook and rope-related activities (such as Athletics, Acrobatics, and Stealth, or to prevent falling).

Power: You can use this hook to make a ranged weapon attack with it against any creature or object within 15 feet. The hook counts as a +1 magic weapon and you are considered proficient with it. You use your Strength or Dexterity modifier (whichever is higher) for your attack roll. If you hit, the hook does 1d6 bludgeoning damage + your Strength or Dexterity modifier (whichever is higher).

Power: You gain binding strike. Whenever you score a hit with this item, the hook and rope wrap around one creature or object, restraining it until you release it or until it makes a successful Strength saving throw. A bound creature’s speed is reduced to zero, and yours is reduced to 10 feet while you maintain your hold on the rope. You can drag the bound creature (or object) with you as you move. If you do, you both have disadvantage on Dexterity checks and saves. The dragged creature moves on your initiative. Should you choose to let go of the rope, the creature can automatically free itself as an action. Once the creature is freed, you can retrieve the hook and rope as an action. You may use binding strike once per short or long rest.

Power: You may cast rope trick using the hook (and an attached rope) once between long rests. The spell’s duration equals 8 hours + your proficiency bonus.

Set Bonus: If you are attuned to and wearing the burglar’s cloak and carrying or wielding the burglar’s hook, your darkvision is no longer impeded by magical darkness. You can use binding strike once per encounter and no longer suffer disadvantage on Dexterity checks and saves when dragging a creature bound by it. In addition, you may cast blur, darkness, invisibility (self only), and silence.
