Forgetful Sap

Weapon, uncommon

This smallish blackjack of matte-finish leather is a +1 sap with the deceptive item property. Whenever you hit with it, you can wipe away the memories of a creature struck by it. The target can make a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw to resist the effect, and it has advantage on this saving throw unless you attack from surprise or the target can’t see you before you attack. If the save fails, the target forgets everything that happened since its last turn (or for 1 minute, if struck during surprise). On a critical hit, the target forgets everything that happened during the previous 1 minute (10 minutes if struck during surprise). This creature’s lost memories can be restored with remove curse or greater restoration. A creature that failed a Charisma check when interacting with the target, such as Intimidation or Persuasion, can retry that check if the failed check happened during the time when the target lost its memories.
