Heavyload Harness

Wondrous item, uncommon

This set of wide leather straps and belts is held together with braided strands of oxen skin through holes on each end and knotted together. Wearing a heavyload harness doubles your carrying capacity and your Strength score is treated as 2 higher than its actual value for determining whether wearing heavy armor reduces your speed.

If you are using the optional Encumbrance variant rule, you are encumbered only when carrying in excess of 10 times your Strength score, and heavily encumbered only if carrying more than 20 times your Strength score.

Note that while this increases the total weight you can carry, you may still be limited in terms of the volume and size of objects you can carry in your hands or in containers.

Special: A heavyload harness is especially effective when worn by an animal or beast with 4 or more legs, allowing it to triple its carrying capacity rather than doubling it. Such a creature is encumbered only when carrying in excess of 20 times its Strength score, and heavily encumbered only if carrying more than 40 times its Strength score.
