This orb can store a single spell of up to a certain spell level depending on its rarity, as shown in the Orb of Spell Storing table. Any creature can cast a spell into the orb by touching the orb as the spell is cast. The spell has no effect, other than to be stored in the orb. If the orb can’t hold the spell, the spell is expended without effect. While holding the orb, you can cast the spell stored in it. The spell uses the slot level, spell save DC, spell attack bonus, and spellcasting ability of the original caster, but is otherwise treated as if you cast the spell. Once used, the orb loses its magical properties.
