Ring of Hawfire

Ring, rare (requires attunement)

This ring is a gold band ornamented with a carving of a hawk’s head. The ring has 2 charges and regains all expended charges daily at dawn. While wearing this ring, you can use an action to speak the command word and expend 1 charge to cause the hawk’s head to melt and transform into a flaming hawk that appears in an unoccupied space within 10 feet of you.

The hawk is friendly to you and your companions.

It understands your languages and obeys your spoken commands. If you issue no commands, the hawk defends itself but takes no other actions. The hawk uses the statistics of a hawk, except that it is immune to fire damage and deals an additional 2d6 fire damage with its talons. In addition, the hawk sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.

While the hawk exists, you can use your action to perceive through the hawk’s senses until the end of your next turn.

As long as the creature is on the same plane of existence as you, you can use your action on subsequent turns to maintain this connection, extending the duration until the end of your next turn. While perceiving through the hawk’s senses, you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight, and you are blinded and deafened to your own surroundings.

The hawk exists for up to 1 hour. At the end of the duration, the hawk merges with the ring and becomes the ring’s ornament again. It merges with the ring early if it drops to 0 hit points or if you use an action to speak the command word again while touching it.
