Sea Strider Boots

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement; see below)

These blue-dyed boots are patterned after the sea and allow the wearer to stand and move across any liquid surface as if it were solid ground and swimming doesn’t cost you extra movement. These benefits do not require attunement to the sea strider boots.

If you have attuned them, you gain a +5 bonus on Strength (Athletics) checks to swim and you gain an additional action on each of your turns, which can only be used to Dash while swimming or walking on a liquid surface.

While underwater or standing on a liquid surface, as an action you can transport yourself from your current location to any other spot within 500 feet.

This functions like dimension door but the location where you arrive must be part of the same body of water you are touching when you use this ability. You can arrive underwater or standing on the surface.

Alternatively, when underwater or standing on the water’s surface you can merge into and out of the water in a manner similar to the blink spell, except rather than vanishing into the Ethereal Plane you instead vanish into the body of water, where you are invisible and your body is liquid, granting you resistance to nonmagical damage and advantage on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws. You cannot take actions (including reactions) when liquefied in this way. At the start of each turn, you reappear in your normal form within 10 feet of your previous position.

After using either of the latter two abilities, you cannot use either ability again until you complete a long rest.
