This gleaming, polished +1 shield is a boon to paladins who stand in the breach to defend their allies.

When a creature attacks an ally that is adjacent to you, you can use a reaction to cause that attack to have disadvantage on one attack roll. Additionally, that ally’s next attack against that enemy has advantage on the creature that attacked it. If the ally would be successfully attacked by the creature, you can step in the way of the attack, taking the damage that your ally would have taken. In addition, whenever you use your Divine Smite class ability on an enemy, that enemy had disadvantage on its next melee weapon attack roll against you.
