Staff of Claws

Staff, major, rare (requires attunement by a druid)

This crude-looking staff is topped with three rune-inscribed raptor claws and three feathers. You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. While holding it, you gain a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls. 

   The staff has 10 charges, and recovers 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff becomes a nonmagical quarterstaff. 

   While holding the staff, you can use a bonus action on your turn and expend up to 2 of its charges to summon one claw of force per charge to orbit around your body. The claws float in the air, and remain hovering around you for 1 minute. Only 4 claws can be summoned at a time, and attempting to summon more causes the charges to be spent with no effect.

   When you are hit by a weapon attack, you can use a reaction and expend 1 claw of force to roll a d4 and add it to your AC against the triggering attack. Additionally, you can use a bonus action on your turn and expend 1 claw to make a melee spell attack using your spellcasting ability against a creature you can see within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the claw deals 5 (2d4) slashing damage.
