Staff of Earth and Stone

Staff, very rare (attunement required)

This length of carved stone is surmounted by a single amber crystal and has a simple metal band for a handgrip.

It taps into the power of the very living rock to unleash its power. As an action, you can cause any 10-foot square of rock, soil, sand, or similar earthen material within 30 feet to become difficult terrain, whether due to loose sand, mud, cracked or uneven surface, or rocky rubble as you describe. It remains difficult terrain for 1 minute. You likewise can convert an area of earthen or stony difficult terrain to smooth and easily passable terrain for 1 minute.

This does not affect other forms of difficult terrain, such as due to vegetation, ice, deep water, etc. This ability does not require charges.

A staff of earth and stone allows the use of the following spells:

The staff has 10 charges, and regains 1d6+4 expended charges per day at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. If you roll a 1, the staff crumbles into a pile of loamy dirt.
