The Sword of Fighting

Weapon (longsword), legendary (forced attunement)

Hidden in the Temple of All Dooms is the Sword of Fighting. Although unremarkable in appearance, the sword is a weapon of legendary importance.

It is known that whomever wields the Sword of Fighting will be the one to slay the Wicked Kings. You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. It has the following additional abilities:

A Warrior’s Skill: You gain 50 temporary hit points. Any of these temporary hit points lost are recovered after taking a long rest. You gain proficiency with all armor, shields, simple weapons, and martial weapons. You have advantage on attack rolls you make with the Sword of Fighting. When you hit a target with the Sword of Fighting, that target takes an extra 2d12 force damage. You have proficiency in Strength and Constitution saving throws. You can attack twice when you take the Attack action on your turn. You ignore this benefit if you already have a feature, like Extra Attack, that gives you extra attacks.

Disrupt Magic. The weapon was originally created to dispel and absorb magic. When you strike a creature, object, or magical effect with the sword, any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends. For each spell of 4th level or higher on the target, roll 1d20 + 9. The DC equals 10 + the spell’s level. On a successful check, the spell ends.

If your temporary hit points (see above) is lower than 50, your temporary hit points are restored for a number equal to the spell levels dispelled.

Forced Attunement. The Sword of Fighting instantly attunes to the first person that touches it. You cannot remove the attunement to the Sword of Fighting. The weapon cannot be sold, given away, or abandoned – it instantly teleports to your hand at the beginning of your next turn. However, the sword can be taken from you and used to slay you. This forces attunement of the Sword of Fighting to the new owner.

As part of its teleportation ability, the Sword of Fighting can teleport itself (once per day, as the spell) and the Chosen One if the wielder is in mortal danger and if the sword is of a mind to do so.

Sentience. The Sword of Fighting is a sentient chaotic evil weapon with an Intelligence of 13, a Wisdom of 10, and a Charisma of 17. It has hearing and normal vision.

The weapon can speak and understand Common, Dwarven, Elvish, and Orc. While you are attuned to it, the Sword of Fighting also understands every language you know.

Personality. The Sword of Fighting’s purpose is to slay the Wicked Kings. It is impatient, misogynistic, racist, and generally foul-tempered. If bonded to a “Chosen One” the sword feel is unworthy, the Sword of Fighting will attempt to force the Chosen One into battles or take over their actions to jump off a nearby cliff. The sword will not allow conversation with enemies; it will always attempt to insight conflict by insulting or taunting the Chosen One’s opposition.
