Wand of Rime

Wand, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This wand has 7 charges. While holding it, you can expend 1 of its charges to cast the ray of frost cantrip from it, increasing damage based on your level as usual for the spell. In addition, whenever you cast a spell (not including ray of frost from the wand) that deals cold damage, as a bonus action you can expend 1 charge from the wand if the spell targets a single creature, or 3 charges from the wand if it affects an area.

Creatures failing their saving throw against that spell (or affected by it, if it does not allow a saving throw) become coated in clinging ice and frost unless they succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw.

This rime of frost affects them as the slow spell and also deals an additional 1d6 cold damage each round. Rimed creatures can make another Strength saving throw each round at the end of their turn, and the DC is reduced by 5 each round after the first.

The wand regains 1d6+1 expended charges daily at sunset. If you expend the wand’s last charge, roll a d20.

On a 1, the wand turns to snow and crumbles away.
