Anansi

Anansi are humans who have been blessed by the otherworldly being of the same name. Anansi worship a powerful patron connected to spiders. His blessing, given at birth and activated in young adulthood, imparts spider-like attributes to his chosen. The most important of these skills is the connection to a mysterious energy that spreads throughout creation.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age. As humans, though they are not called to become anansi until their early adulthood.

Alignment. Most anansi are lawful good.

Rarity. Unknown.

Size. Anansi are created from humans, though they can weigh less than they appear. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You also have a climbing speed of 30 feet.

Alert. You have the Alert feat.

Anansi Training. You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.

Anansi Web. As a ranged attack, you can shoot a strand of sticky webbing from your hand to a normal range of 30 feet and a maximum range of 60 feet. You have proficiency with these webs. If your web hits a target of up to Large size, that target is grappled in its space (DC = 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency modifier to escape). A target grappled two or more times by one of these webs is restrained until it escapes. You can also launch your web to use as a strand to climb on. For this usage, your web has a maximum range of 30 feet.

Sense Ley. You sense major disturbances to Leylines with a range proportional to the change. It’s up to the GM what triggers this trait. However, the arrival of an extraplanar creature or casting of a powerful spell 60 feet away should do so, while the death of thousands or the arrival of a godlike entity might be sensed from hundreds of miles away.

Spider Climb. You can climb difficult surfaces and upside down on ceilings without needing to attempt an ability check.
