Dullahan

Dullahans are humans whose heads are separate from their bodies. Despite the lack of a neck, a dullahan’s head is still metaphysically connected to the rest of it. Dullahans love detaching their heads to make others uncomfortable.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Two different ability scores of your choice increase by 1.

Age. Dullahans become adults in their late teens and age like humans. Most succumb to old age before living a century.

Alignment. Like humans, dullahans display varied alignments, with a tendency toward neutral and good.

Rarity. Rare.

Size. Dullahans come in an array of sizes, like humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Separate Head. Your head is supernaturally connected to your body, but the two can function fine when separated by up to 150 feet. While they are farther apart, you lose 5 hit points at the end of each of your turns. This ability has several other features.

  • Your body and head share your hit points as if still one unit.
  • If your head can sense something, your body can. If your body can feel something, your head can. Otherwise, without your head, your body is blinded and automatically fails any ability check that requires sight, hearing, smell, or taste.
  • If your body or head can breathe, both can.
  • Without your body, your head is prone and can’t stand up. Your head can crawl (roll), but each foot of movement costs it 4 extra feet.

Skills. You gain proficiency in one skill of your choice.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common and one other language.
