Golem, War

War golems are constructs brought to life by magic to serve in battle. Now freed from their cruel masters, they strive to avoid senseless violence and prove that they are more than soulless killing machines. They are haunted by the memories of the harm they’ve caused others.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score and your Strength score each increase by 2.

Age. All war golems are created as adults. They don’t age.

Alignment. Created to follow commands in a structured life, many war golems are lawful. Most have no ethical preconceptions that lead them to be good or evil. However, some war golems seek to prove they’re more than instruments of destruction and aspire to virtue.

Rarity. Rare.

Size. War golems are typically 6 feet tall and weigh 350 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Armor Integration. With 8 hours of work, your armor can be integrated into your body, so you can’t take it off without 4 hours of work. Integrated heavy armor doesn’t reduce your speed, and it imposes no disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

Living Construct. You are a humanoid, but your constructed nature gives you the following traits.

  • You are immune to disease and have resistance to poison damage. Also, you can add your proficiency bonus to saving throws against being poisoned. If you have proficiency in such a saving throw, your proficiency bonus is doubled against being poisoned.
  • You need not eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You need not sleep, and don’t suffer the effects of exhaustion from lack of rest. Magic can’t put you to sleep.
  • During a long rest, which you still need, you remain conscious and aware.

Medic. War golems were expected to rescue their living comrades, especially their commanders. You have proficiency in the Medicine skill.

Mighty. Calculate your carrying capacity and the weight you can drag, push, and lift as if you were Large.

Warrior. You have proficiency with four martial weapons or with three martial weapons and shields, and with light and medium armor.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common.
