Khanard

Khanards are sentient ducks who are larger on average than wildfowl. Unlike wild duck species, they can control when and where they relieve themselves, though many treat them as if they can’t. They can fly and swim on the surface of the water, making them ideal adventurers, though most remain in khanard villages or districts in larger settlements for protection.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Two different ability scores of your choice increase by 1.

Age. Khanards age at an accelerated rate, reaching adulthood after three months. Adult khanards can live as long as 80 years.

Alignment. Some khanards are pillars of their communities; however, the majority are considered to be offensive and rude, making them chaotic neutral.

Rarity. Uncommon. Khanards frequently seek out non-khanard settlements to look for work and to establish businesses.

Size. Khanards stand at 3 feet tall, weighing 50 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet. You also have a swimming speed of 25 feet.

Barterer. You have proficiency in the Insight and Persuasion skills.

Buoyant. You float on water with your head above the surface, even when unconscious, unless you try to submerge yourself.

Khanard Training. You have proficiency in one skill, as well as one tool or one weapon.

Weak Wings. You have wings, but they aren’t yet strong enough to grant you full flight. Provided you have space double what you require (usually 10 feet), you can flap your wings to jump as if you had a 10-foot running start. If you can do so and have a 10-foot start, double the distance you jump. When you fall, provided you have double your space to open them, you can use your wings to slow your fall to 60 feet per round, taking no damage from falling. Also, for every 10 feet you fall, you can move 10 feet horizontally. Each foot you move horizontally this way counts as 1 foot of movement. You have access to the Improved Wings and Strong Wings feats.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common and Skyborn. Some well-traveled khanards might also speak, read, and write Aquatic.
