Lemurian

Lemurians are a reptilian species that has a long lower jaw, a strangely flattened face, eyes small but piercing and set curiously far apart, so that they can see sideways as well as in front. Lemuria, sheltered by lemurian druids, is much like the lost era before, filled with dinosaurs of all types. Lemurians have managed to keep dinosaurs alive through selective breeding, carefully controlled enclosures, and other magical means. They breed special dog-like creatures similar to plesiosaurs but much smaller, which they use for hunting. Of all the species populating the primal lands, lemurians are the oldest. Lemurians have no set gender and can self-impregnate at will, laying an egg during their breeding season. Thus lemurians can replenish their species rapidly if need be.

To build their huts, lemurians tear down trees, and pile them up in a tent-like fashion. Their huts, formed of rude trunks of trees, are shored up with boulders of stone. Lemurians wear robes of loose skin, usually dinosaurs. They wear tassels of bright red, blue and other colors to identify rank. Lemurians wield long spears of sharpened wood, ranging from twelve to fifteen feet long.

Lemurians are gender fluid, so their names are a reflection of their memories and achievements. Cehpu-no, Ectilxecl, Gop-xachtlon, Hizdol-hu, Krixchic-zoa, Tluhtur-hu’a, Qrich-tlo’entlic, Xoxtahpuch, Yo’acnatzte, Zuxcuxcan

Traits

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 1.
  • Age. Lemurians reach maturity around age 14 and rarely live longer than 60 years.
  • Alignment. Most lemurians are neutral. As an elder species that has seen the fall of the dinosaurs, lemurians are less concerned about current events and more about surviving.
  • All Around Vision. Due to your third eye, you can’t be surprised. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
  • Cunning Artisan. As part of a short rest, you can harvest bone and hide from a slain dinosaur of size Small or larger to create one of the following items: a shield, a club, a spear, or 1d4 darts or blowgun needles. To use this trait, you need a blade, such as a dagger, or appropriate artisan’s tools, such as leatherworker’s tools.
  • Dinosaur Speech. You have the ability to communicate in a limited manner with dinosaurs. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them in return. You have advantage on all Charisma checks you make to influence them.
  • Languages. You can speak, read, and write Lemurian.
  • Long-Limbed. When you make a melee attack on your turn, your reach for it is 5 feet greater than normal.
  • Natural Armor. You have tough, scaly skin. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield’s benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.
  • Personal Temperature. As cold-blooded beings, lemurians have an average personal temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Powerful Build. You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
