Mandrake

Mandrakes are forest-dwelling root beings created to guard ancient trees who often leave their forests for adventures. They are sought out for their healing abilities as they sleep under the bed of the afflicted.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age. A mandrake can become an animate creature after two years of growth. Mandrakes can remain animate for years, but most sleep their life away like a normal plant for several centuries. If a mandrake remained animate its entire life, its lifespan would be comparable to a human’s.

Alignment. Mandrakes are neutral good. Doing the right thing seems like the easier choice for them.

Rarity. Rare.

Size. A mandrake is about 3 feet tall and weighs 35 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Float. When you fall, you can slow your fall to 60 feet per round, taking no damage from falling. For every 10 feet you fall, you can move 5 feet horizontally. Each foot you move horizontally this way counts as 1foot of movement.

Healing Presence. When you are present among creatures taking a short rest, you allow those who remain within 3 0 feet of you to recover an additional ld4 hit points per Hit Die they expend. If you are present during a long rest, creatures within 3 0 feet of you regain three-quarters of their Hit Dice instead of half. A creature can forgo either benefit to remove a disease or the poisoned condition from itself, but to do so during a short rest, the creature must expend at least 1 Hit Die.

Heritage (Plant). You are humanoid, but you are considered to be a plant creature when it is detrimental for you.

Plant Sleep. Over 1 minute, during which you are restrained, you can plant yourself in the earth and sleep. Being asleep in this way is like being petrified, except you age at a rate 10 times slower than normal. Waking up takes you 1 minute. You can remain asleep for as long as you wish.

Spit Seeds. You can launch seeds from your mouth as if using a sling. You don’t need ammunition for this natural weapon, and you have proficiency with it.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan.
