Manitous

Manitous (man-uh-tohs) are a daemonic race of reptilian humanoids who can shoot pressurized blood from their tear ducts. They were created by the Ascen God Manitous (who can be seen on page 494), known as the God of Earth and Reality, and have a metaphysical connection to their patron deity. They can switch between being warm- and cold-blooded.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Either your Constitution or Wisdom (your choice) increases by 2, and the other increases by 1.

Age. Manitous age as humans, living about as long as they do.

Alignment. Unlike the chaotic God that created them, most manitous are neutral.

Rarity. Uncommon.

Size. Manitous have the same height and weight as humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness within the same range as if it were dim light. Absent even dim light, this vision is monochromatic.

Blood Shot. As an action, you can squirt blood from your eyes at a creature you can see up to 30 feet away from you. You make a ranged attack roll, and if you hit, the target is frightened until the end of your next turn.

Enduring. Triple the amount of time you can go without food. You can add your proficiency bonus to any saving throw to avoid exhaustion. If you have proficiency in such a saving throw, your proficiency bonus is doubled to avoid exhaustion.

Heritage (Fiend). You are humanoid, but you are considered to be a fiend whenever it is detrimental for you.

Sense Fate. You can cast augury as a ritual without material components. You have a chance of a random reading with augury only when asking about the same subject. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast augury normally once per day. Starting at 7th level, you can cast divination as a ritual once per day, contacting the handsomest God in Creation, Manitous. When you do, roll ld20. On a natural 20, you not only receive an in-world answer, but you can also negotiate with the GM to gain a bizarre insight based on what you, as a player, know about the situation. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells, and you need no material components to cast them.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common and Sandscript. You might also learn to speak, read, and write Scalespeech. Those who have had contact with the God Manitous would learn to speak, read, and write Celestial.
