Marionette

Marionettes are human-sized wooden puppets brought to life by magic. They greatly desire to become real human beings. When they lie their noses grow longer.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Three different ability scores of your choice increase by 1.

Age. A marionette is an adult when created. They are ageless.

Alignment. Most marionettes try to live righteously and follow the rules. They are neutral or neutral good.

Rarity. Rare. A marionette comes into being only where constructed.

Size. Most marionettes are human-sized, although some are constructed to resemble smaller species or children. Your size is Medium or Small.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Living Construct. You are a humanoid, but your constructed nature gives you the following traits.

  • You are immune to disease and have resistance to poison damage. Also, you can add your proficiency bonus to saving throws against being poisoned. If you have proficiency in such a saving throw, your proficiency bonus is doubled against being poisoned.
  • You need not eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You need not sleep, and you don’t suffer the effects of exhaustion from lack of rest. Magic can’t put you to sleep.
  • During a long rest, which you still need, you remain conscious and aware.

Training. You have proficiency in one skill, tool, or weapon.

Telltale Nose. Your nose grows whenever you lie in a conscious attempt to deceive someone, giving you disadvantage on Deception checks to lie. After you tell two such lies, your nose grows long enough to be a club, and you can break it off and use it as that weapon. After four lies, your nose is long enough to be a quarterstaff when you break it off.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common. Choose one other language with which you have similar fluency.
