Mummy

Mummies are the embalmed undead of ancient civilizations. All those buried this way were royalty or nobility in life. For unknown reasons, decades ago all mummies returned to life. While they retained all their memories from before they died, none remembers being dead.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age. Mummies have the age and mental maturity of the time they were originally embalmed. They are ageless.

Alignment. Since all mummies were once nobles or royalty, they believe in the rule of law. However, in a society where most everyone was a ruling sovereign, there is disagreement about what those rules should be. Mummies tend to be lawful neutral.

Rarity. Rare. Unlike zombies, which can arise from any human, mummies come only from the embalmed corpses of ancient nobles.

Size. Mummies are created from humans and resemble zombies in build. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness within the same range as if it were dim light. Absent even dim light, this vision is monochromatic.

Dry Flesh. You are vulnerable to fire damage.

Menacing. You have proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Living Corpse. You are a humanoid, but your undead nature gives you the following traits.

  • You are immune to disease, and you have resistance to poison damage. Also, you can add your proficiency bonus to saving throws against being poisoned. If you have proficiency in such a saving throw, your proficiency bonus is doubled against being poisoned.
  • You need not eat, drink, or breathe.
  • Although you can be healed as if you’re humanoid, and the raise dead spell works on you (returning you to “life” as a mummy), you are otherwise considered to be undead whenever it is detrimental for you.

Noble Etiquette. You have proficiency in the Persuasion skill.

Mummy Slam. Your unarmed strikes deal ld4 bludgeoning damage, and they have the light and finesse weapon properties. You have proficiency with your unarmed strikes.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common, Sandscript, and Shadowtongue.
