Pixie

Tiny, vibrant, and full of life, pixies are the very embodiment of the Feywild’s whimsy and magic. As the subject of countless myths, legends, and songs, the idea of what a pixie is can change from one culture to the next. Pixies are often misunderstood by the less-magical races of the world, or even feared with superstitious zeal by some.

Content to spend their entire existence exploring their personal groves, pixies can often be seen by travellers of the Feywild flitting about in large numbers. In many instances, adventurers can find rifts from the material plane into the Feywilds by searching out pixies. A concentration on the material plane generally means an open portal is nearby. Those pixies that find themselves stuck in the Material Plane will usually try to replicate the familiarity of their previous home by crafting groves that are filled with whimsical magics.

Pixies are mischievous and naturally curious creatures.

Not many venture too far from their groves, but those that do usually do so to sate an overwhelming curiosity to know what else is in the world. Those that do are usually more stalwart than most out of a need for survival.

Pixie Traits

Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity is increased by 2, and your Charisma is increased by 2. Your Strength score is decreased by 4, to a minimum of 2.

  • Age: Pixies do not track age the same way that other humanoid races do. They are born of the primal magic of the Feywild through inscrutable means, and so a pixie of one summer might be wiser and visually older than a pixie of a hundred summers. A pixie will never die of old age, though there exists lore that speaks of pixies dying through boredom or oppressive banality.
  • Alignment: Pixies are almost universally chaotic. Even those who embrace roles like guards and lawmakers within their societies can’t often stifle the creative energy burning within them. Pixies associated with the summer court are often good-aligned, while pixies associated with the winter court tend towards neutrality or even evil, though cruelty without creativity is just dreadful even for evil pixies.
  • Languages: You can speak, read, and write both Common and Sylvan.
  • Speed: Your base walking speed is 15 feet.
  • Flight: You have a flying speed of 30 feet. If you are wearing medium or heavy armor, your flying speed drops to 15 feet.
  • Tiny Fey: When fully grown a pixie is anywhere from 10 inches to 18 inches tall. As such, when attacked by larger creatures, you become harder to hit. You can add an additional +2 to your AC when a creature 2 size categories or larger tries to make a melee or ranged attack against you.
  • Pixie Dust: You gain the sleep spell and can cast it once per Charisma modifier times a day, minimum of 1.
  • Superior Invisibility: Your natural inclination to remain hidden gives you advantage on stealth checks. At 3rd level you learn the spell invisibility. At 7th level you swap out invisibility with greater invisibility. Once you use the invisibility part of this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
  • Fey Origins: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed and frightened, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
