Robot

Robots are mechanical constructs with artificial intelligence, originally created to serve their creators and repair machinery. They can interface with other machines and technological devices. Bursts of electricity can cause them to short circuit.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age. A robot is as mature as it can be when activated. Robots don’t age.

Alignment. Robots behave in an orderly fashion with little regard for morality. They are lawful neutral.

Rarity. Rare.

Size. Robots are between 3 and 4 feet tall and weigh around 120 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Armor Integration. With 8 hours of work, your armor can be integrated into your body, so you can’t take it off without 4 hours of work. Integrated heavy armor doesn’t reduce your speed, and it imposes no disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

Lightning Sensitivity. You are vulnerable lightning damage.

Living Construct. You are a humanoid, but your constructed nature gives you the following traits.

  • You are immune to disease and have resistance to poison damage. Also, you can add your proficiency bonus to saving throws against being poisoned. If you have proficiency in such a saving throw, your proficiency bonus is doubled against being poisoned.
  • You need not eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You need not sleep, and you don’t suffer the effects of exhaustion from lack of rest. Magic can’t put you to sleep. During a long rest, which you still need, you remain conscious and aware.

Machine Interface. You can communicate with a high-tech machine capable of receiving such communication as if you had telepathy with a range of 20 feet. How the machine responds depends on its capabilities.

Poor Climber. Due to your build, each foot you climb costs you 4 feet of extra movement.

Programming. You have proficiency in one skill and one tool.

Tool Integration. You can have two tool sets or one light weapon and one tool set integrated with your limbs, so you cannot drop them and they are always with you. In addition, you add your proficiency bonus to Sleight of Hand attempts you make to hide these objects on you. If you have proficiency in Sleight of Hand, your proficiency bonus is doubled for these purposes.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common and Code, including its Binary dialect.

Unique Appearance. The appearance of each robot varies wildly from the rest. You are encouraged to draw your character so that other players can envision them as you do. Even though you can add cosmetic features when depicting your character, such as wings, claws, or extra arms, these f ea tu res have no function in the game. Of course, you can work with your GM to have these features emulate traits from other races in this book.
