Vatborn

The Hags of Senica have many sinister secrets, but the most closely guarded of all is the ability to create life. Following a recipe said to be handed down from Baba Yaga herself, they can brew up the beings known as the “vatborn” in their despicable cauldrons. These pale, amorphous humanoids are shapeshifters, able to perfectly mimic the appearance of other people. They are feared and loathed everywhere as a result. While they begin life perfectly loyal to their hag, many develop an individual personality over time and flee their servitude.

Standard Racial Traits

Your vatborn character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Increase an ability score of your choice by 2, and a different ability score by 1. These adjustments reflect the particular recipe your hag used to create you.

Age. Vatborn reach their mature size around 14 days after creation. They rarely live longer than 50 years.

Size. In their regular form, vatborn range from about 5 feet to 6 feet in height. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Shapeshift. As an action, you can transform into a Medium humanoid you have seen, or back into your true form. If you have heard the target speak, you can also mimic their voice perfectly while transformed. Your statistics are the same in each form, and you don’t gain access to any racial traits (such as darkvision). Any equipment you are wearing or carrying isn’t transformed, and you revert to your true form if you die.

Magical Origins. You are immune to being charmed.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
