Verge

Verge are a hivemind of forcibly mechanized beings, modified to convert other beings into verge. Recently, for reasons unknown, verge have begun giving units individuality to better interact with other races.

Traits

Ability Score Increase. Two different ability scores of your choice increase by 1.

Age. Verge are adults. Typical units function for 50 years, although a unit could be refurbished to last longer.

Alignment. The verge have a hive-like society with a communal structure in which all units have a specific function. Individuals are expected to value the welfare of the collective most of all and to follow the directives of the community’s central processing unit. Verge are lawful neutral.

Rarity. Rare.

Size. A verge unit is the size of a human, although their unusual body shape and technological elements can make units weigh twice as much as a human of the same height. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Adaptable Defense. If you take acid, cold, fire, lightning, radiant, or thunder damage, you have resistance to that damage type for 1 round. This ability provides only one kind of resistance at a time. The most recent damage replaces any other type.

Armor Integration. With 8 hours of work, your armor can be integrated into your body, so you can’t take it off without 4 hours of work. Integrated heavy armor doesn’t reduce your speed, and it imposes no disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. You can sleep in integrated armor.

Machine Interface. You can communicate with a high-tech machine capable of receiving such communication as if you had telepathy with a range of 20 feet. How the machine responds depends on its capabilities.

Tool Integration. You can have two tool sets or one light weapon and one tool set integrated with your limbs, so you cannot drop them and they are always with you. In addition, you add your proficiency bonus to Sleight of Hand attempts you make to hide these objects on you. If you have proficiency in Sleight of Hand, your proficiency bonus is doubled for these purposes.

Verge Programming. You have proficiency in the Medicine skill and one tool.

Languages. You speak, read, and write Common and Code.
