Cup of Dust

5th-level necromancy

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 30 feet

Components: V, S

Duration: 7 days

Classes: cleric, druid, warlock

You curse the target with a thirst no drink can quench. If the target fails a Constitution saving throw, it immediately gains one level of exhaustion, as though it had spent an entire day without water. Each day thereafter, the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or gain another level of exhaustion from their parching thirst.

No amount of drinking can counter this effect, though potions, poisons, and other liquids consumed have their normal effects other than quenching the target’s thirst.

Cup of dust can be removed with dispel evil and good, greater restoration, remove curse, or wish or by consuming a heroes’ feast, but any exhaustion gained as a result of the spell remains until it is removed by rest or magic. While the curse remains, taking a long rest does not reduce the target’s exhaustion level since they are treated as having not ingested any drink during their rest.
