Dreadscape

3rd-level illusion

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 30 feet

Components: V, S, M (pinch of black sand)

Duration: 1 hour

Classes: bard, warlock, wizard

You cause up to 3 creatures within range to perceive their surroundings as a nightmarish reflection of the world around them, twisted to a dirty, ruined, dangerous, and hostile appearance. Even their allies seem alien and threatening, with friendly speech perceived as mockery and threats. Each target that fails a Wisdom saving throw becomes bitter, morose, and unfriendly. They don’t necessarily attack nearby creatures, but Charisma (Persuasion) checks have disadvantage against them while Charisma (Intimidation) checks have advantage. Affected creatures have disadvantage on saving throws against becoming frightened, and effects that would cause them to become charmed cause them to become frightened instead. A creature affected by dreadscape also takes 2d6 psychic damage each time it fails a saving throw against becoming frightened; it must save even if it is already frightened, taking damage on each failed save.
