Exploding Fruit

3rd-level transmutation

Casting Time:10 minutes

Range:Touch

Components:V, S, M (a fresh lemon, which the spell consumes)

Duration:24 hours You can change the chemical makeup of an average sized fruit or vegetable into a highly reactive explosive device. Once the spell is finished, the item will remain in this reactive state for 24 hours, after which time it will instantly rot into sulfur smelling goo. Creatures must succeed on an Investigation check against your spell save DC to determine that the item is imbued with this spell. Creatures with an improved sense of smell can make this check with advantage. If the food’s skin is pierced, through biting, smashing, or even accidently, it explodes. Every creature within 15 feet of the fruit when it explodes must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw, taking 5d6 force damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Creatures attempting to eat the item make the saving throw with disadvantage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell with a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the force damage increases by 1d6 for every spell slot used above 3rd.
