You protect yourself against mind-controlling spells (such as charm person and suggestion) of 3rd level or lower. If you make your saving throw against such a spell, the spell has no effect on you and instead targets the caster, using the slot level, spell save DC, attack bonus, and spellcasting ability of the caster. If the caster fails their save, the spell takes effect on them as if you had cast it upon them.

This spell only affects spells that target only you, not area of effect spells.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the level of mind-controlling spells it can turn upon their source increases by 1 for each slot level above 5th. Thus, using a 4th-level spell slot protects against mind-controlling spells up to 4th level, a 5th-level spell slot protects against ones up to 5th level, and so on.
